It is the flagship company of the Österreichischer Lloyd Group founded in 1991 by Hans-Georg Wurmböck and Eberhard Koch, having offices in Austria, Germany, Malta and Beirut.

The Cyprus-based company is using the name ‘Österreichischer Lloyd’ in order to associate itself with the former Trieste-based shipping line, which currently is renamed into Italia Maritima. There are no legal or other links connecting the two companies.
